West Hills Band Online: IMC Positions
Drum Major
The student leader of the band during marching season, the drum major often manages field rehearsals and works to motivate the band. They march ahead of the block in parade.
Band Manager
Elected by his or her peers, the band manager administers IMC meetings and provides leadership. They are responsible for making sure the other leadership positions are coordinated and properly organized.
Business Manager
This officer directs both the band's finances and planning fundraisers to ensure the band's financial health.
Colorguard Captain
Appointed by the colorguard advisor, this person is the student leader of the colorguard, and IMC's colorguard representative.
Technology Manager
The technology manager is responsible for maintaining the band's website and forums, as well as producing the Recruitment DVD and creating segments for WPAC-TV.
Stage Manager
The stage manager sets up the field for rehearsals , as well as the stage for concerts. The stage manager is an important figure when the band hosts a festival, as much of the work involved is his responsibility. The stage manager appoints a small Stage Crew to assist them in their duties.
Publicity
The publicity manager works to make sure the band is mentioned in announcements, spots on the school newspaper and the yearbook. They also work on signs and other modes of promotion for the band. Their goal is essentially to heighten the band's exposure on campus.
Equipment Manager
The equipment manager runs the band's inventory and keeps instruments serviced. All instruments need to be checked in or out through him. Additionally, they appoint an Equipment Crew which is usually responsible for getting equipment on and off the bus and semi.
Librarian
The librarian copies, distributes and collects all music played by the West Hills Band, a monumental task at times.
Scribe
The scribe's primary duty is taking the minutes in IMC meetings, in the interests of keeping accurate records of the proceedings.
